Cookie Booth Contest

As one of their badges, the girls worked on Marketing.  We took a field trip to Gordy's during one meeting to look at their cookie displays and colors.  They decided the bright colors were attention getting.  During our meetings, we talked about a 60's/70's themed booth and an 80's booth.  Because the weather didn't improve, we opted to combine the decades and adjust the plan.   Here's what we came up with:  Cookies for all generations.  With each girl representing a different decade, we present the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's!!
Our contest entry.  Due to the cold weather, we didn't get to put it all together at an actual booth.  But these girls are too adorable in the vintage clothing to not enter.

If your gonna be Girl Scouts, you better be goofy!

Where have we been??????

One word - COOKIES!!!!!
So far we have completed 5 of our 9 cookie booths and have sold close to 2000 boxes of cookies. The girls have logged hours during the rain, snow, sleet and 1 degree temps. They truly are the Postal Service of cookie sales. They totally rock!!!

Dough ornaments

In December, both our Daisy and Cadette Troops joined together to make some ornaments.  Since we met at the Girl Scout office, we had a good amount of work space.  The girls had a lot of fun working with the little girls.  We had a bunch of different cookie cutters for them to use and they ended up making several ornaments.  The one downside was the amount of time we had didn't allow for us to bake the ornaments.  I think they would have had a better chance of survival if we had baked them.

Troop 3354 - Through the years

For a while I've wanted to do a post of my favorite group pictures of all times.  Many times, I use the best of the best for the main picture but then they are not part of the post.  Through the 6 years we have been a troop, we have had 23 different girls participate.  Our troop has ranged from 11-18 girls while in Elementary school and 6 girls in Middle school.  We currently have 3 girls who have been with us since 1st grade and 1 close behind having started in 2nd.  Our other 2 girls joined us in 5th grade after moving to Sam Davey.  They both were part of another troop prior to joining us.  I hope you enjoy a look at our troop through the years.  :)

Camp Nawakawa

Saturday, November 10th, we planned an over night at the Chalet at Camp Nawakawa.  We were hoping to combine some aMaze work with the Eating for Beauty badge.  That part was a success.  Great conversations regarding peer pressure, stereotypes and bullies as well as a fun pampering session with mud masks and hand/foot spa treatments. EX-CEL-ENT!!!!  The girls opted to be one of two groups for meals.  Breakfast - Alex, Jenny and Alyssa or Dinner - Allie, Taylor and Taylor.  Dinner consisted of Madagascar Mac and Cheese, Dino Chicken Nuggets, peppers, pineapple, tomatoes and pears.  Breakfast included pancakes with chocolate chips, strawberries, whipped cream, hot chocolate, apple cider along with finishing up the pears and pineapple.  Yummy!!  Sleeping was a different story.  Multiple critters kept half of the girls awake until at least 3.  One animal was in the roof of the building and sounded like it was playing with an acorn.  And, with those noises, we heard every little creak and clang all night.  At one point, Maria and I even went to bang on the wall to try to scare it off.  Didn't even phase the creature.  Overall a fabulous trip that we all enjoyed very much!!  When asked to describe the weekend in one word, here is what everyone said:
Maria - Interesting!
Alyssa - Creepy
Jenny - Talkative
Taylor H - Fun
Jennifer - Sleepless
Alex - Interesting
Taylor K - Interesting
Allie - Rats
I think that sums it up pretty well!!  Here are some pictures of our adventure!
