Humane Society
Our venture to the Eau Claire County Humane Society took place on Thursday, April 15th. Each of the girls collected items to donate. We also, as a troop, purchased cat food, dog food, dog bones, and kitty litter. After seeing the size of the pool litter box, we know one bag doesn't make a dent in how much litter they use. We walked through the dog area and both cat areas. Our tour guide was Candice. She was very nice and answered a lot of questions. This may be a popular choice for the girls to work toward their Bronze Medal next year.
Junior Meeting
As part of our requirements for bridging to Junior Girl Scouts, we participated in a meeting with the 4th graders on April 8th. We helped them make Indian Headdresses for the 4th and 5th graders music program. They shared what it was like to bridge and differences in Juniors. Our girls also shared some of our meeting traditions, like the closing circle and friendship squeeze.

Let's Pretend Badge
Beaver Creek Reserve June 2009
We camped overnight at Beaver Creek Friday, June 19th. Upon gathering the girls at Sam Davey, we had SubWay for lunch and then proceeded to Gordy's to buy groceries for the trip. The girls had divided themselves in to a Breakfast group and a Dinner group. Each group was responsible for creating their menu, figuring out what would be needed to make the meal, clean-up and a later snack. Both groups worked very hard and were able to make wonderful meals for their friends.
The dinner group was: Amber, Ingrid, Emily, Madison, Brandi and Ana
The breakfast group was: Katelyn, Alex, Taylor, Allie, Alyssa, and Maddy
We also worked on several badges in preparation of the trip and while at Beaver Creek. As part of the preparation, we worked on proper things to wear while camping, fire safety, and the planning aspects. At Beaver Creek, we completed the Girl Scout Ways, Travel Right, Math Fun, Outdoor Adventurer, and Ready, Set, Go Camping Badges. We had also planned to complete the Space Explorer Badge but, there was a scheduling mix-up with the Observatory.
The building we were in had two rooms with bunk beds. Each girl was able to have their own top bunk, that worked out perfectly.

Next Meeting - February 19th
Starting with this meeting, we will be working on items for our Camp out in June. The girls will be working on multiple try-its and some of them will not be completed until the camping trip. Starting Thursday, the girls will have a Camping Workbook. The workbook will cover the try-its we are working on, trip planning, safety rules and a checklist to make sure they are ready to go. The workbook will come home close to the outing to let all the parents know what is going on and what is expected.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. :)
