Meeting Recap - 12/18

I hope they all had a good time at our party last night. Here are some pictures of the festivities.......

At our meeting on December 4th, we brainstormed some things the girls would like for their party. Among the ideas were playing games, having candy, a Christmas tree, Christmas music, pizza and hot chocolate.
The girls signed Christmas cards for their second grade teachers, Mr. Otto, Mary, and Jeff (the custodian). They also decorated gift bags for the presents they made at our meeting on 12/4.
Our next meeting will be January 15th. We will be discussing cookie sales. Cookie Sales start January 16th. Like last year, we will have a brief parent meeting after our regular meeting.

Meeting recap - 11/6

Thursday we worked on the Badge called "Write Away". We read the story about Juliette Low, the girls wrote a letter and worked on addressing it. We also made up a Group Giggle where Ingrid started a story and we went around the room adding sentences to it until everyone had contributed. Our story was about a stinky cow with spots on it's butt and nose and everywhere else. When the farmer came to milk the cow, the milk was sour. And, a fly flew by and died because the cow was so stinky. They all giggled for quite some time after that. Our final activity was to become a reporter. Each girl interviewed a friend and wrote their answers.

Meeting recap - Girl Scout Ways

Yesterday, we worked on the badge "Girl Scout Ways".

Some of the things we discussed were, the Girl Scout Law and Girl Scout Promise, What makes Brownie Girl Scouting Special, the Friendship Circle, and some of our hand signs.

During our Brownie Ring and Planning, we brainstormed things the girls would like to know for our Bank outting on 10/16.

Some of the questions we would like answers to are:

Does the bank make the money?
Will we get money?
What is the money made of?
How do they count the money?
What do you do with riped money?

When discussing the Girl Scout Motto, Be Prepared, we talked about several different senerios that the girls need to be prepared for. Here are their ways to be prepared.

Field Trip
Wear Tennis Shoes
Stay with the group
Wake slowly, no running
No pushing
Walk with a partner
Wear a jacket

Bad Weather
Go to the basement
Tuck into a ball by the wall (They all did a very nice demonstration of this)
Bring Blankets - you might be there a while

Power Outtage
Get Flashlights
Light Candles
Give a hug - you may be scared.

Fire
Get out of the house
Call 911
Stop, Drop and Roll (Another great demonstration moment)

The meeting ended with the Friendship Circle and Squeeze. We also played "Juliette says".

Your daughter was sent home with a permission slip for the field trip, a permission slip for the Candy/Nut sale, the Candy/Nut sale info, the meeting calendar, and a Girl Scout Law coloring packet.
