Christmas Party 2009

Beaver Creek Reserve June 2009

We camped overnight at Beaver Creek Friday, June 19th. Upon gathering the girls at Sam Davey, we had SubWay for lunch and then proceeded to Gordy's to buy groceries for the trip. The girls had divided themselves in to a Breakfast group and a Dinner group. Each group was responsible for creating their menu, figuring out what would be needed to make the meal, clean-up and a later snack. Both groups worked very hard and were able to make wonderful meals for their friends.
The dinner group was: Amber, Ingrid, Emily, Madison, Brandi and Ana
The breakfast group was: Katelyn, Alex, Taylor, Allie, Alyssa, and Maddy

We also worked on several badges in preparation of the trip and while at Beaver Creek. As part of the preparation, we worked on proper things to wear while camping, fire safety, and the planning aspects. At Beaver Creek, we completed the Girl Scout Ways, Travel Right, Math Fun, Outdoor Adventurer, and Ready, Set, Go Camping Badges. We had also planned to complete the Space Explorer Badge but, there was a scheduling mix-up with the Observatory.
The building we were in had two rooms with bunk beds. Each girl was able to have their own top bunk, that worked out perfectly.
Back Row: Emily, Maddy, Amber, Ana
Front Row: Madison, Katelyn, Ingrid
Bottom Row: Brandi, Alyssa, Alex, Taylor, Allie

Next Meeting - February 19th

Starting with this meeting, we will be working on items for our Camp out in June. The girls will be working on multiple try-its and some of them will not be completed until the camping trip. Starting Thursday, the girls will have a Camping Workbook. The workbook will cover the try-its we are working on, trip planning, safety rules and a checklist to make sure they are ready to go. The workbook will come home close to the outing to let all the parents know what is going on and what is expected.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. :)

Cookie Sale Info

Since our meeting is canceled for tonight, here are the details for this year’s cookie sales. I will be sending the packets to school either tomorrow or Monday. In the attachments, you will find the “Imagine If….” Parent packet and a Goal Getter order card. We can use the Goal Getter card until you have the colored, multi-fold form. Please transfer any orders to the colored form when you receive it.

Please note on the Goal Getter order card, the Dulce De Leche cookie is new and the All About is not being offered this year.

To celebrate our sales, we will be meeting at Action City on February 4th. Order forms must be turned in at this event. Let me know if your daughter will be able to attend. If she cannot, we can make arrangements for the order form to be returned. Again, February 4th, is the last day they can be turned in.

To return the money, our troop will be meeting at Skate America on March 18th. Because this is Spring Break week, it will be important to make arrangements to return the money if you will not be in town or cannot attend on the 18th.

Important dates to remember:

1/16 – 2/1 Cookie Sale Dates
2/4 Cookie orders due to Troop.
Action City 5:30 – 7:30, pizza or hot dog and drink will be provided.
2/5 Normal meeting - Canceled
3/7 – 3/18 Girls deliver cookies and collect money
3/18 Money due to Troop
Skate America 6-8, snack and drink will be provided.
3/20 Cookie money is due to the Girl Scout Office

Money does not need to be collected until cookies are in. All money is due to the troop at the assigned date even if the cookies haven’t been delivered yet. All checks should be made out to Girl Scouts. Please write on the back of each “for deposit only”.

Program recognitions are a little different this year. All items except Cookie Dough are accumulative. Prizes will be distributed to the girls after money has been collected.

Cookie delivery information will be sent out as soon as we receive more details.

Permission/Parent responsibility agreement is on page 6 of the “Imagine If….” Packet. The information can be emailed back to me. Please make sure to include slipper and shirt sizes.

I cannot stress the safety portion of the packet enough. Please discuss this with your girls. Especially “Girls should NEVER enter a customer’s house.”

In our meeting with the girls tonight, we would have discussed goal setting, making your sales pitch, what to say and safety. I will include some of the items in the packet to be sent home.

From page 1…..
Orders need to be turned in to by TCM by: 2/4 at Action City 5:30-7:30

Meeting Recap - 12/18

I hope they all had a good time at our party last night. Here are some pictures of the festivities.......

At our meeting on December 4th, we brainstormed some things the girls would like for their party. Among the ideas were playing games, having candy, a Christmas tree, Christmas music, pizza and hot chocolate.
The girls signed Christmas cards for their second grade teachers, Mr. Otto, Mary, and Jeff (the custodian). They also decorated gift bags for the presents they made at our meeting on 12/4.
Our next meeting will be January 15th. We will be discussing cookie sales. Cookie Sales start January 16th. Like last year, we will have a brief parent meeting after our regular meeting.
